Lomba


Lomba is a new year festival celebrated in Haa on the 29th day of the 10th Bhutanese month to bring in good health, happiness and prosperity. The menu is Hontoe .Hontoe is a steamed momo-like dumpling made with a mixture of dry turnip leaves, amaranth seeds (zimtsi), and chili prepared in fermented cheese and wrapped in a dough made of buckwheat flour. Hontoe were traditionally offered to the nobility as a gesture of respect and goodwill.This picture can be used to teach about celebration of lomba festival in Haa valley.

The national flower of Bhutan is called Blue poppy. In dzongkha it is called ཚེར་སྔོན་མེ་ཏོག། For bhuatanse the flower signifies pursuit of happiness, compassion, purity, friendship, harmony and endless peace, and finding happiness in simplest of things.The flower is found in alpine region across the country. As a teacher this picture will help me to introduce the national flower to the students and students can have a look at the visual image of the flower. The children will also be able to give description on natonal flower of Bhutan.

📷 Educational Video. Ugyen Guru Lhakhang is a remote monastery located on the ridgeline of one of the 4,000-meter peaks that border the west side of the Paro Valley

The history o the Lhakhang Pangbisa Ugyen Guru Lhakhang has the Kudung's head of Terton Sherab Mebar. Terton Sherab Mebar came to Ha valley from Kham (Tibet) in the 15th century. Above Ha valley there is a lake called Nuptshonapatra. From the bed of that lake Terton Sherab Mebar took out a trumpet, a drum, and a pair of cymbals by putting entire water of the lake into his mouth through his miraculous powers.   Along with those items he also found a golden pillar which Terton wants to offer to Paro Dzong. He asked some carpenters to cut out for him and as a reward the carpenters were asked to take the shavings of the pillar.  The carpenters became very greedy and started cutting the pillar in such a way that whole chunks dropped off from it. Watching their greediness Terton signaled with his head and warned them to stop as he could not talk but the carpenter paid no heed and took out more shavings of gold from the Pillar.
